Who we are
CDEC - Cumbria Development Education Centre, is one of a network of accredited Development Education Centres across the
UK and a member of the Development Education Association (www.dea.org.uk)
Development Education seeks to explore the links between our own lives and those of people throughout the world, recognising ways in which we are all dependent on each other, pointing out the reasons for inequalities in the world at all levels, and helping people tackle these inequalities in their own everyday lives and actions.

CDEC is a registered charity (number 515020) and receives project funding from many sources in particular the Department for International Development, Training and Development Agency, Cumbria Education Authority, Barrow Excellence Cluster Partnership, Lake District National Park Authority, Cumbria County Council, Oxfam, the European Union, the Diocese of Carlisle and
Methodist
Churches in
Cumbria .
What we offer
CDEC works with teachers, students and other education providers in promoting a global dimension in the curriculum.
Support and training on all aspects of global citizenship, including equality and diversity, sustainable development and social justice
School Linking – support programmes on developing link partners, both local and global
Philosophy for Children – introductory sessions and SAPERE accredited level 1 training.
Resources – an extensive collection of books, activity packs, artefacts for loan through our resource bases in
Cumbria .
A range of CDEC and other publications for sale all of which provide support , activities and ideas on how to introduce and embed the global dimension into the school curriculum.
