CPD and Training

CDEC provides high-quality training in all aspects of global learning to support in embedding practice and methodologies throughout the school curriculum. GLP Approved TrainingMost of  the courses below are approved through the national Global Learning Programme, and are also available as whole school INSET training.  The Global Learning Programme has been extended beyond its original end date and you are still able to obtain additional e-credits and attend courses.

Philosophy for Children level 1 foundation courseSAPERE_Registered_Trainer_logo (2)
This two day course provides a comprehensive and practical introduction to the P4C methodology over two days. It focuses on the theory and practice of developing communities of enquiry, and provides the opportunity to have experience of P4C as a participant and be able to reflect on its process and effects. Completion of the course and facilitating 6 P4C sessions will qualify participants for a P4C Initial Practitioner certificate.

Philosophy for Children Level 2a
This SAPERE accredited two day practical course deepens participants understanding of P4C to become more capable facilitators of P4C training, and leads to a SAPERE facilitator certificate.
Attendees on this course must have achieved a level 1 certificate.

Global Science
In this course we will look at practical ways to integrate the global dimension into science activities focussed around topics such as– food, water, energy, sustainable use of resources, sustainable ecosystems, climate change and health and disease. Case studies, resources and links will provide a toolkit to enrich any science lesson.

Teaching Controversial Issues
Young people frequently face making decisions and forming opinions about issues on which there are many different views. This course will explore what controversial issues are, why they should be taught, will include classroom strategies, existing guidance and practical teaching activities.

British Values, Migration and Global Learning
In this workshop we will explore the concept of values and the ‘fundamental British Values’, linking your own school values to these ‘British’ values. Understand more about migration (history, patterns, statistics) in order to feel more confident about teaching, and the links between migration, identity and British Values.
