Resources – to loan

Using global resources, including artefacts, in the classroom is a great way to bring topics to life to engage pupils. When used sensitively, they can inspire critical thinking, exploration of values and challenging of stereotypes.

At CDEC we have an extensive collection of artefacts, books and activity packs for subscribers to borrow.   You can select from a range of ‘off the shelf’ topic boxes including: country boxes; RE topic boxes; general collection;  global baskets and musical instruments. Alternatively we can make up a selection of resources based on your particular topic or subject needs, just get in touch.

How do I get my resources?

We offer a courier service within Cumbria to support subscribers in accessing resources.  The service costs £12 per return box with delivery and collection arranged on agreed dates at your convenience.  However, subscribers are also welcome to make their own arrangements for collection/ delivery and of course we will always try to drop boxes off/collect if a member of our team is in your area.

The centre is open by appointment Monday through Friday 9am – 4.30pm if you would like to browse through our collection.

Can I borrow some resources?

To take advantage of our loans service you need to become a member of CDEC – an easy  process which not only gives your school / setting the opportunity to borrow resources from us,  but all staff receive a 10% discount on CDEC open courses and events during the membership period.

The annual charge for membership starts from just £30 for a primary school (with fewer than 50 on the register), and lasts for one academic year.

Further information and an application form is available from our membership page.
