A new project - PLACE - is all set to get going

Jan 5, 2021

This year sees us start a new two-and-a-half-year project, funded by Erasmus+, that offers schools a great opportunity to get involved in cross-borders global learning. PLACE - Paths to Learning: Active Community Exploration - will see us working with schools in Cumbria, and partners in Dorset, Czech Republic and Slovakia.

Tools and resources to support teachers

Our overall aim is to develop a menu of tools and resources that will support teachers in utilising PLACE effectively as an approach to equipping and empowering children and young people as local and global change agents and becoming resilient and healthy global citizens.

Wellbeing is a core focus

We will focus on the ‘Five ways to Wellbeing’ of connect, be active, keep learning, give to others and pay attention. Children and young people will be empowered, and through increased agency, to be local community change agents, able to think and act on global, inter-connected issues.

Our inter-connected themes for this project include emotional health and wellbeing, and environmental and community sustainability. It will deliver on PSHE, geography, history field work, developing school grounds, pupil voice, citizenship skills and will strengthen your school community.

Why not get your school involved?

We are looking forward to working with schools and our project partners in Dorset, Czech Republic and Slovakia to develop resources and approaches. Training with teachers will begin Summer term 2021, so please contact debbie@cdec.org to express your school’s interest in taking part.
