Heather Devey and the Cumbria Beaver Project Weds 27 January 4-5pm 

We are delighted to be hosting Heather Davey from the Cumbria Beaver project. She’ll be explaining why beavers are a good thing for Cumbria’s environment, sharing opportunities for schools and ways teachers can use the project to introduce and talk about climate change, biodiversity, conservation and nature-based local solutions to wider problems like flooding. 

Ian Long and his Blobtrees Thurs 11 February 4-5pm

Come along to hear how you can use Blobtrees as an assessment tool, and a way of helping your children talk about difficult subjects. 

Debbie Watson on storytelling for resilient and visionary global leaders! Wednesday 25 February 4-5pm

Debbie is joining us to share her wide experience of using storytelling to strengthen pupil voice and shed light on the Sustainable Development Goals, the combination of which fosters resilience and vision in our pupils to nurture tomorrow’s global leaders. The session will also include activities that you can take away to use with your class at school.

Are you starting your global learning journey? Book on to find out what global learning is and how you can use it in your school to enrich your pupils’ learning and contribute to making them responsible world citizens.

Global Learning Network Meeting Tues 10 February 4.00-5.30pm (Free to members)

Join us for a gathering of teachers with an interest in global learning. We will talk about CDEC’s projects and how you can get involved, courses that you want us to run, and gain support for your global learning in school. There will be a chance to ask questions and to give us your thoughts on some of our ideas for the future.

CARE - Review and exploration Thurs 14 Jan, 4pm

Join us and other teachers who have taken part in our CARE programme to review and explore the journey that CARE schools have been on. Find out what CARE is all about and work out how it would fit with your school.

 

Sankofa: Storytelling for the Digital Age - interactive practical workshop Dates to be confirmed in February and March

Come and explore the power of storytelling to engage and empower young people. There will be three workshops, each lasting 45-minutes.


How can my school become a member?

If your school is not a member of CDEC but you want to come to any of these events, please ask your school to join. Membership is £40 for primary schools with under 50 pupils, and £75 for those with over 50 pupils and secondaries with under 300 pupils; membership for secondary schools with more than 300 pupils is £100. If your secondary school department would like to join, please contact dan@cdec.org.uk
