What we ask for

We ask you for your contact details for purposes of sharing news of our projects, organisation and courses and for administering our CPD courses, CSR training, projects and volunteering opportunities. We only collect basic personal data that does not include any special types of information, but could include your name, place of work, address, email, and phone number.

We may collect and process the following information about you:

  • Query Information: this is the information you provide when subscribe to our emails, book a course or become a member.
  • Cookie Information: this is the information we obtain from use of Cookies as explained in the Cookies section below.
  • Survey Information: this is information from surveys that we may, from time to time, run on the Site for research purposes, if you choose to respond to, or participate in, them.

Why we need it

Schools and organisations that are members of CDEC supply us with their contact details so that we can administer your membership and provide you with the benefits of membership.

Individuals who are subscribed to be part of our network also supply their information to us so that we can run the network.

We also collect your information if you have booked onto and attended our courses. We do this because we need to administer the course and, if you have opted in to receive our news, we will let you know of future courses and other CDEC news.

Where you’ve attended a course that has been paid for through the Global Learning Programme (GLP) e-credits, we had to pass your details on to GLP so that the payment can be processed, as part of a contractual requirement between ourselves, your school and GLP.

If you are part of one of our projects, we will need your details to keep in touch, and may have to share basic information about you with partners and funders as part of the project. You will let you know if this is the case when you sign up.

What we do with it

We retain your personal data on secure servers. No third-party organisation has access to your details and we won’t share, sell or loan your information to other organisations unless we have your permission and are contractually obliged to.

You can at any time contact the data protection officer and ask for the information we hold on you and you can ask us to remove it from our database and from our paper files. This is the under the right to be forgotten.

How long we keep it

We are required under UK tax law to keep your basic personal data for a minimum of 7 years after which time it will be destroyed. Your information we use for marketing purposes will be kept with us until you notify us that you no longer wish to receive this information.

What are your rights?

If at any point you believe the information we hold about you is incorrect, you can request to see this information and even have it corrected or deleted. If you wish to raise a complaint on how we have handled you personal data, you can contact our Data Protection officer who will investigate the matter.

If you aren’t satisfied with our response or believe we are processing your personal data not in accordance with the law, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO).
