Geoff continues to work with schools and youth centres in his role as a Blue Mentor for the Ernest Cook Trust.
Learners from the Lakes College have been planning and developing a sensory trail and outdoor learning area, young people from Carlisle Youth Zone have been exploring the wildlife of the River Eden and helping to tidy up the surprising amount of litter in the local environment, and Year 6 pupils from St. Patrick’s Catholic Primary School at Cleator Moor are exploring the learning opportunities of their fantastic nature area and how other schools and community members can engage with it.

Geoff has also been doing his own learning with other Blue Mentors from across the North of England at Wild Beach training with the Lancashire Wildlife Trust.
The Blue Influencers project runs until the end of 2026, so if you are interested in enabling your young people (aged 10+) to take part in youth social action in blue spaces, send an email to geoff@cdec.org.uk
Geoff is also developing an on-site outdoor learning CPD offer for school staff at St. Patrick's Cleator Moor, so please get in touch if this is something that would interest staff at your school.
