FIDS and Oracy through pupil voice

FIDS and Oracy through pupil voice

FIDS is an inclusive approach to pupil voice based on children's 'right to thrive'. It works well at a whole-school level as well as within class or student/school council settings.

Explore techniques for developing engagement and agency in creating active global citizens with an emphasis on social justice. Through the stages of FIDS (feel, imagine, do and share), your pupils will develop their oracy and communication, leadership and teamwork skills, and will feel empowered to make a difference within their school community.

Outcomes

  • To support pupils' oracy and communication skills
  • To explore the multiple reasons and benefits for incorporating pupil voice in your teaching and school decision making
  • To address the barriers that might reduce the impact of pupil voice
  • To practise some key techniques for sampling pupil voice
  • To raise awareness of supporting resources
  • To develop a case for pupil voice in developing leadership and communication skills to present in school
  • To provide teachers with a set of tools and approaches to develop pupils' leadership skills
